Day, but we also got started on new units!
Math
We went over the math test and those went home. We played a bingo game with time, and a fun Jeopardy game reviewing the skills that were on our last test. We also reviewed math facts we don't have memorized, and played an Unlock the Love game on Valentine's day.
Next week we are starting book clubs! This week we talked about the fiction series books that are in our room. We will be focused on the characters so this round of book clubs will be fiction. The second graders will be reading books that are a little bit lower than their usual level because I want them to get through lots of books so they can see patterns across their series.
We have started to dive in to tackling the tricky words that every second grader should know how to spell! The second graders have been playing games to practice these essential spelling words that don't necessarily follow phonics rules.
Writing
We read letters that were sent to our class from the other second graders and wrote them back. We wrote postcards to go in the real mail too! We also started work around review writing. We will start with movie reviews so if you have time to talk to your second grader about his or her favorite movies that would be great!
Homework:
The math homework is due by Friday, February 21.
