weekly update

We had an AMAZING last week before break! Thanks to everyone who sent in treats. Thanks too for helping your second grader find a blanket, something white to wear and the perfect socks. I appreciate all of your support and I know the second graders do too!

On Monday we had a Reindeer and Flannel Day. The second graders wrote stories about a reindeer whose nose got changed and how it helped save Christmas. They also read and answered questions about actual reindeer.

Tuesday was Snow and Whiteout Day. There was a math problem snowball toss and the second graders decorated snowglobes and wrote snowman cards. We are going to use the snowglobes to decorate the second grade hallway for January.

On Wednesday the second graders designed gingerbread houses and wrote listings for them because it was Gingerbread and PJ Day! The students also took a math test. It should have come home in mail on Thursday or Friday. They finished up their gifts for someone special by wrapping them, writing a card to go with, and packing them in backpacks.  To end the day the second graders had a special treat and read books in their forts for a SOAR celebration!

Thursday was Elf and Cozy Socks Day. This was another amazing day! The second graders were all assigned elf names, made elves of themselves, and got to eat ice cream from Hudsonville Ice Cream's Random Act of Ice Cream! I am happy to report that everyone's elf application was approved! This was also the day I gave the second graders their holiday gift from me!

Friday was just as busy with Tree and Sweater Weather Day. Everyone wore their fun holiday outfits and made ornaments, wrote a North Pole story and played Unlock the North Pole at math time. It was a fun day to end a fun week.
